Rivers on Fire

Beach Ready started to send actor and singer Mara McCann @maramccann soundscapes across the Atlantic to narrate to at the start of the Covid lockdown, in no way did they expect to be writing music and words that would be a direct response to George Floyd's murder and the Black Lives Matter movement. What we have is music that sounds like the end of one world going into another and a narrator that is describing the way and leading us through emotions that exist. The cover image has been provided by frontline NY photographer Russ Rowland @russrowland.

do you pray
when the sirens call

do you go
where the mountains are tall

do you see the rivers subside

do you fight
when the land is on fire

it’s calm before the lightning
its real before the damn breaks

if heaven owns this the land
we’d know it was a mistake

you know the dust never settles this far
did you see the fires they burned them all

do you go where the rivers end
do you fight with all your zen?

there’s beasts that are hiding my friend
they’ll take you out without remorse

I try God
I try

Do you go where the rivers end
do you fight with all your zen

They’ll go on marching till the sky cries hell

I try lord
I try

they go where the rivers on fire
